E-commerce is booming in India, which is evident in the different websites that have sprung up that sell stuff online for damn cheap prices compared to others. Techies like me are always looking out for the cheapest deals online. I have been a regular online shopper, Ebay being one of my favorites shopping destination. But there are bad people out there, whom I experienced for the first time, and sharing the same with you people and to create awareness. The story begins:

Last month I was looking to buy Ipod Shuffle. As usual I started my online shop hunting with official apple website. But unfortunately Apple India does not provide an online shopping facility. Then I started exploring sites like Ebay, FlipKart etc., which had a pricing around Rs.3200. I also came through LetsBuy which was offering the same at Rs.2999 upon which i was getting Rs.450 off through a discount voucher, which made the cheapest price available on the internet i.e @ Rs.2549

It was my first buy from this site ( But i will never buy from this site again. It has the worst service i have seen so far). I had seen a lots of ads online, saw their facebook community and they seemed to be a reputed brand(It has become difficult to trust the advertisements these days !). I was convinced at that point of time and placed the order on 25th May 2011. it took a day or two to confirm the of the payment which is common in most of the sites. Finally I lost my patience and tried contacting them through email on 30th May 2011, no response ! Again I tried reaching them on 1st June, no response! I prefer email as communication mode since its convenient & saves my time. When I’m making an online purchase, I expect people to respond to emails, which is an online communication media!. Finally realizing I may not get any response to my email, I gave them a ring. Their telephonic support also sucks, after waiting for hours the calls get suddenly disconnected! After spending a lot of time and efforts I  reached one of their operator. They informed that they will be shipping the item shortly and I will receive a email on the same (which was received after 20+days). However they also told me that they did not received any email! (I’m putting up the screens of the email I sent)

LetsBuy Support Sucks !

I would like to point of couple of things as I said in previous paragraph.

  • They do not have a ticket system
  • They do not have live chat
  • Their support system is not synced with previous support requests
    • Every time I gave a call it was like a new call, explaining the operator the whole story from the start
  • Emails are never responded
  • You are not communicated on shipment details
  • They will never contact you back, instead you will have to try to reach them a 100 times
  • They do not have 24 by 7 Support ( would not be of use anyways with respect to above points)

Coming back to my order status – Finally on the 22nd of June I receive a email providing the shipping details.  It gives me tracking details and everything. But its one month later!

I could deal with that until after tracking the item I receive this report…

Apparently Bluedart showed my item was sent a fortnight ago. Curious to see what was the matter I went to the company site. According to the pic (below), its still in process. Its now the end of June. And I ordered this a month ago. How can this still be “in process”? As usual customer support is non-existent in the real sense.

Should I believe Bluedart or LetsBuy? Can anyone from LetsBuy give a explanation to this, not just saying it was a mistake? How can you commit such mistakes?

A small Piece of advice to LetsBuy – Put a small amount of marketing budget you are spending (I know its too big) to build a support team too !

I would advice the people reading this to stay away from LetsBuy at this point of of time. If you had a similar experiences, or any other things to share kindly comment below.

Update:

Its not even a day after I posted this and shared on sites like facebook, linkedin, moutshut etc, something happened which I never expected(atleast so fast). Today noon (Wed, Jun 29, 2011 at 12:39 PM) I recieved a mail from Hitesh Dhingra, CEO of LetsBuy, which again I’m putting up here.

I really appreciate the time & efforts taken by the CEO to look into a issue 1 customer amongst lakhs. In fact I did not get to know from where did he get my new company DigitalAvatar’ email address instead of the email address associated with the letsbuy account !

Followed by this I got a call on 7.32pm from one of their executive. He was patient enough to listen to all the things stated above and good enough to convince me that things won’t happen the same again. I just wished this would have happened a bit earlier, but its never too late. I’m here to review them again may be after giving them some time 🙂

I also thanks my readers & friends (like Shashidhar Bhat) who offered help to resolve the issues. Thanks Again & Cheers to Social Media.

Just to clarify all the users, the item was gifted to my sister and she did receive it on 8th June 2011 as per to Bluedart Data. My whole point was all around the mess in the letsbuy system. I will anyway give them a try again!

    im going through a same prob that u had with letsbuy. i made an order for galaxy 551 on 22 june,they had provide me wrong waybill number . i have been calling CC  more then 8 days now n all they make is fake stories.
    There is no upade regading to my parcel on blue dart..n in letsbuy, its showing Inprocess.
    letsbuy cc told me that they had send an email to blue dart for proving correct docket number on 26june but they don’t reply with meaningful details…i dont know whats going on with letsbuy and blue dart..
    will u plez tell me,what to do now!!!!!

    I am going through the same experience. I had order a sony ericassion elm two week ago through Maestro card.
    The amount is deducted from my account with in a minute. but till i did not receive  my order.After trying a lots of time i got one of their customer support (causing me a huge mobile bill) but they told me that my payment is not confirmed through i pay online using maestro card.I don’t know how much time they will need to confirmed it.what to do now..?

        FRiday 8TH July one of their customer care executive call me & request me not to comment on Facebook as i share my experience on their wall.He also told me that monday my payment will be confirmed & shipped as strday and Sunday is not working day.Now,Monday i am calling them and they are saying that my order is not confirmed yet more time needed as they told before.What to do now man?They are removing my comments now. please mail CEOregarding my order 203655

I have no update on how to track on whats happening on both of my orders. Sandeep please help me.           I pay online but they are saying that they did’t receive my payment though the amount is deducted within a minute from my account. Their website also showing that my order is confirmed.but after weeks i did’t receive my order. And customer care saying the same thing again & again that payment is not confirm yet.     Hi Vineet,

    In case of COD you may a on bit safer side with not paying money until you receive.

    But still the issue of non-delivery persists right? What if you are a genuine buyer, awaiting the item to be shipped by some date?

    Consider you are ordering a camera considering it be delivered in 15 days and plan a tour/travel accordingly. You will be lot of problems if the item does not get shipped in time right?

      Can you confirm that their online payment method through credit card or debit card is secure? They are using EBS.in service for secure transaction. EBS.in have VeriSign Secured logo but the link is not pointing to their certification page. Is it safe to buy online on Letsbuy? As, I was going to buy a mobile using their coupon code through COD. But they have disabled COD on that coupon. Earlier my friend had bought a camera with the similar coupon code and through COD payment method.

          This is msg from frustated customer. I ordered two samsung laptops on 22nd sep.And now letsbuy executives hace called to inform that my orders cant be entertained. reasons given by two different excecutives:
          1.  Boy ( I dont remember the name called on 24th sep): Products are not available. but as i insisted to deliver the orders, he agreed for same but with condition that it will take 10 days to deliver. ( you can check the call records of company)
          2. Shayna (26th sep): told me that products cant be delivered becasue at the time of booking the order, products were available but now its not….MY GOD, how can you say this statement. This means that you sold my ordered laptops to some other person???? ( you can check the cal records)

      yet. On ur website the delivery time mentioned for this product is 3-5 days. I called ur coustomer care 6-7 times and spent over 60 min talking to ur executive and already spent arround INR 100 on STD calls but they have no clue.   9. Hi Sandeep. I came across your post while I was in the process of buying from letsbuy for the first time.

    I’ve transacted on various e-commerce sites before and never had so much trouble ! Basically I ordered a laptop from them for my girlfriend (She lives in India and I live in South Africa).
    Issues:

    1) The do not update the status of an order on the website. 
    2) I specifically mentioned the item is a gift but they still called her up and began mentioning order details
    3) It seems like they are unable to properly track an order. The laptop was out of stock and they were unable to tell me this for several days. In the mean time we were wondering why she wasn’t getting the laptop.
    4) Sales agents are not very helpful. At one point when my girlfriend was complaining about the service they asked her to cancel the order as opposed to providing some kind of reassurance/solution
    5) Despite us informing them of an address change 2 weeks back (we reminded them several times by email and over the phone), they still delivered to the wrong address
    6) Poor customer systems. We had explain the same thing every time we called them. Its as if they do not keep track of earlier issues/notes related to an order or customer. Each time the agent behaves as if he/she is hearing our query for the first time.

    letsbuy has lots of potential but if they continue to provide such inept service they will lose a lot more customers besides me.

      The original article and the title was written before I got the response from them. Yes I agree my tone is different initially and different is the “Update” part (thats why I have mentioned it to be the update). And I have clearly stated I made that update since the CEO itself took the initiative to respond back.

      I have nothing to do with PR nor advertisment. I have better things to do than this, infact i have written the article on this blog after a long time(i rarely find time), you can imagine the extent I was fed up with letsbuy. In fact my article has solid proof in the form of screenshots which even letsbuy cannot deny, can you?

      And its not just me, you can read the other people comments who had similar experience. Also their rating at mouthshut also has gone down by 5% in a week time after posting this !

      Yes as I said I may buy something again with them, see if things are improved, else post again.

    but their unmatchable low prices are tempting…

    i am planning to buy LG optimus one 500.
    on letsbuy, using RCOM voucher, it will be saving me approx 2000, compared to flipcart or ebay.
    it will be my first purchase.

    any suggestions….
    and how the hell the are able to sell so cheap……even lower than the manufacturer price …

    recently i thought of purchasing galaxy ace and galaxy pop for me and my wife with a juicy offer of 2000 rs discount coupon, but now i feel it as a better option  to purchase from safe and secure e bay by shedding few more bucks from my pocket.
     even if i opt for cash on delivery, will they send original products or even their products are also spurious just like their service..kindly let me know.

    I really don’t know how it happened in yr case.I have done 3 purchases from letsbuy till date.(2 Mobile phones & 1 headphones),but in my case their service was very good,I have recieved my shipment within 3 days of booking.After recieving my products I have recommended the same to some of my friends & they too have recieved their ship ment on time.I am again planning to buy another cheap mobile from letsbuy.

But this time they are saying a problem called “IP Conflict ” and asked me to send my statement details to them and they said that they will send it for the payment Confirmation . I am really tensed and in mentally agony . I never searched about these Letsbuy people Before .

      I suffered the same problem with homeshop18 yesterday i purchase a Zero gravity Car toy for Kids worth Rs 1000/- and place order with I-Bank of Axis bank … the screen show the Hot payment is sucessful … and accordingly my Account got Debited … but these people tell they not get any amount .. and in reply i send them my TXN slip and Account statement copy .. hope they will join me soon …! Cuz if i join them they will found themselves in bigger problem.

    I had horrible experience. First, I bought a blue color hard disk to gift my brother, I received black hard disk and that too after 7 days. Second, I bought a mobile phone, received on time but this time the phone says “Invaild card” and on showing to the store, they say “haha you must have bought this online, they sell defective pieces”.. “This phone will not work”. I must say – More than horrible experience. I hope they do something about it. Just not horrible but pathetic service. Sorry, but letsbuy disappointed me a lot.

       I fyou have paid through your card… you can charge back your transaction.. in that case you would be refunded the amount that you had paid.. this holds good provided the payment service provider CCavenue provides the facility of chargeback.

    I just made my first purchase on Letsbuy. After being burnt by pathetic websites like Seventymm that have terrible service and worse, no acknowledgement of their mistakes, I was happy to use the COD feature on Let’sBuy. I completely agree with you on the mess in their systems, lack of tracking mechanism and incorrect status updates. I have seen all of that in just one order <Rs.1000. 

    They seem to be like the Big Bazar of online commerce, where FlipKart is the Landmark and Westside. Reliability and tracking is most important when you place trust in online commerce. It does not matter if few people got their items delivered on-time and in good condition. The point is that Letsbuy does not have a good mechanism to track issues when things go wrong. 

    It's a good thing they have COD, so I might still place a few orders. I would never trust them with my credit card!

    The service of Letsbuy is just pathetic. Even after 2 years in business, they don’t have a proper mechanism to track customer issues. Their standard reply is ‘Your concern has been forwarded to the concerned department’ . Only buy from it, if you want to waste your time and money calling their customer care.

    Worst experience, highly unprofessional.
    Ordered some LED TV. They confirmed twice on phone that it will be shipped anytime, everything ready. But never got an email, hence was calling to check if any problem.
    After 5 days, when I checked again, they said prod not available and offered some lower spec prod.
    Finally I selected an alternative prod, they said shipping will be done on priority. Never happened..

    Many commitments but never met. They never write emails about what they say on phone.. They tell many unwritten rules, never write or reply to emails on time. Everytime you speak to a manager at cust care, they say they are hearing this first time and tell stupid things but when it comes to email writing, they avoid saying it is a different department bla..bla….

    What I understood is that, they dont have stock confirmation, when they take orders. They try to find a stock after our order. Also if they dont find product within the right price range then they say NO and/ or for alternate products. You can never be sure that you will get delivered what you ordered.  So just be careful.

    But even i ordered from letsbuy for the first time a few weeks ago.
    My order of morphy richards iron and a pendrive was shipped within 2 hrs of online payment and i promptly recieved on the 2nd day of payment.
    this was the best and fastest service i had…among all sites that i ordered from including homeshop18 snapdeal etc..
    i even recommended it to few of my frnds.

    I placed an order for LG internal 24x Super Multi DVD rewriter and Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710PC under the order no LSB-496879. They payment was done by credit card in EMI’s. Only LG DVD writer was SHIPPED and logitech gamepad was NOT DELIVERED for no reasons whatsoever. I tried to reach Customer service over phone and no response from losing my money further. I wrote to [email protected] and haven’t heard from them either. This is totally a RIP OFF. This is the worst experience I ever had with online service. Hope letsbuy looks into this matter and ship my pending Logitech Wireless gamepad F710PC as soon as possible.

      I am very disappointed with their service, it is very unprofessional of them. It has already been 9 days since i placed the order (LSB-484436) and i promptly cleared all the payment related problems 6 days ago and my payment has already been verified for more than 6 days and my product hasn’t been dispatch yet!!From last 5 days, The status of my product(LSB-484436)is showing “ready to ship”!.I am constantly mailing them for last 6 days and always same reply(after 1-2 days of sending mail) : “will be shipped and delivered as priority!!”.                     Not sure how much can u help me but I have given up hope on letsbuy. In case you know some contacts who can solve my issue for a double charges applied for 23K to me it would be really helpful. I have heard stories of how the CEO and founder of this organisation Hitesh Dhingra & Balvinder Singh are committed souls. Read articles on them and heard that they used to go themselves to serve customers. But i am sorry to say that never got percolated till last level and it maybe during starup of the company. Once they VCs fund these companies all energy is getting spent on expandin it and none to retain. The customer care executives dont care. The leads of these poor fellows commit what they dont want to do it. The courier companies they engage like Aramex are total losers who dont know one thing abuot delivery(Imagine poor folks in delhi sent by air to bangalore) and then these Aramex fools keep the delivery at the point to despatch because they did not care and kept shipment for 2-3 days. I had to shout and yell to Aramex and letsbuy executives never traced where the shipment was.If someone hires me in letsbuy will straigten all these departments and make them earn their salary. I am one of those who has shifted to flipkart. Would ask the CEO of letbuy to just give a call to them and anonymously to letsbuy and see the instant difference in professionalism. Delvy happens sharp in 3 business days and they know what they are doing and stick to it. Now I did not care to pay 250 bucks extra but in India service=extra costs is the motto. The representative pickingup the phone at customer care is the letsbuy person not Hitesh Dhingra for end customers like me. Hope someone reads and reaches out. My mail id is [email protected]

However on the other hand the manufacturers, sellers everyone have unions etc. We, the consumers should have some sort of online Union so we can, based on popular opinion alienate certain sellers so they’ll try to mend their ways.

    Even i had placed an order on 1st nov 2011 on LETSBUY!It was dispatched on 6th nov, the day that i was suppose to recieve my parcel. The shipment status was updated very late on 9th nov on BLUEDART site which said i would recieve the parcel till 10th!But today is 10th nov & the status display’s that it has been canceled!It was my biggest mistake doin so!

    I placed an order for a beetel cordless phone and a wd elements 1tb hard disk on 7/11/2011, order no- LSB-587424, i only received the partial shipment of the phone and on their website they are showing that both the products have been delivered. i have complained them 4-5 times but they always tell that delivery will be made in 1-2 days. Their delivery is pathetic. When i asked for refund they said that it would atleast take a month.I have purchased many things from flipkart and ebay but never faced these kind of issues. And got a reply dat I will quote “First and foremost, we apologize for the delay in your shipment; however we would like to inform you that, we were trying to contact you but there was no response,because there was delay for us to get the product in stock, and the product will be available by the next week. As soon we receive the product we will dispatch the same on priority or we can cancel your order. Kindly confirm us as early as possible.”

    And subsequently I informed that I wanted a refund of the money. And that’s when I was informed that letsbuy.com hasn’t received the money from my end. And I quote the email “We regret for the inconvenience which have caused to your against your order# LSB-600139; However we have not received the payment for this order. we request you to kindly get in touch with your bank/credit card company to get the details, whether your account is debited or not, in case payment is deducted from your account, the same will be reverted back in your account within 7-10 working days.”

    I have even emailed the debit card statement to: [email protected] and I have got no response. What am I expected to do under the present circumstances?

    The following items were stated available alongwith the ordered item, concerned in their website, while I ordered. (11th October, 2011).

    1) 2 bowl Set with Stainless Steel inner body and colourful outer; worth Rs. 300 – FREE
    2) Diwali GiftWhen I received the Induction Cooker through Blue Dart Couriers, they did not send the above two items.While enquiring for the missed items with the company through e-mail on many times, I do have record for the same, they have not turned-up to resolve the problem. ( For some time, they had flashed in their website and sent an e-mail to me, stating that they were attached themselves with the Green Revolution, in which it was stated, that they requested to feed the details of the mobile. Upon filling-up this I did get a message that they would get back the mobile for Rs.250/-, which can be encashed through purchase with them for over Rs.1250/-. Upon their initiation I made the above order and got discount, which was after discount, it was Rs.1590. )Even called on them over telephone, it was told by them, that the freebies were closed, but it was not deleted from the website. Hence, they cannot send them.While on inquiring about Diwali Gift , that they would inquire with the department concerned, and for which they would give voucher for the same. By using the voucher, one has been forced to purchase another item, in order to encash the free voucher.It is also one kind of great cheating the online purchaser, without explaining their motive in advance to the purchaser, concerned. One who buys the material after going through their website would definitively been cheated, by not getting the freebies and or etc.May I have hope anyone would resolve the problem. Till then, I request everyone not to logon with the www.letsbuy.com and do not enter for any purchase for the reasons above stated. Moreover, you would get the cheapest rate of the same product concerned, with the nearest dealer / trader of the respective product, concerned. Ofcourse, at the maximum you may not get the freebies as stated in the website. Even ordering therough letsbuy.com you won’t get the freebies. Hence it is advised be away from the letsbuy.com in order to save your purse.

    Let me share my shopping experience :
    I had placed an order for 2 items on 23 December LSB 740911. They were for One Sedro Table Tennis Racquet and One pack of Stag Table Tennis Ball. Expected Delivery time was 5 days.

    After a week I was sent a mail that the items ordered by were selling like ‘hot cakes’ and there was a delay in shipment. On 1 January when I checked my account, it showed that the Table Tennis Racquet has already been shiiped and delivered at Bangalore while I stay in Kolkata. The pack of ball was pending. When I called up Customer Care, I was told there was some ‘technical mistake’ and it will be sorted out within 24 hours!! I sent a complaint mail on the same day the reply to which I received today, after a week. The delay I was told was also due to a ‘technical’ reason and hoped that the issue had been sorted out!!

    Well the issue did not take care of itself. I received the pack of balls yesterday. But no sign of the Sedro Table Tennis Racquet. I check my account today and what do I find. Table Tennis Racquet showing as DELIVERED (God knows where and to whom) while the pack of ball is being shown as IN PROCESS while I have already received it. When I call up the Customer Sevice all that I hear are apologies because of ‘technical reasons’ and promises that issues would sorted out within 24 hours.
    I have never face any such problem in my over hundred orders with Flipkart. Why would people buy from Letsbuy!!

    I ordered a PHILIPS SHM6600 HEADSET on 28th December, 2011 (order no. LSB-752206). I received 2 year old used piece. I lodged a complaint (complaint number CC12013988) asking for replacement. They agreed to replacement that headset with brand new and ask me to send me that piece so that they would send me new replaced item. So I sent that headset back to them. & then they shipped me the new headset. But when I opened the box I came to know that this was the same piece as I have sent them back(old & used piece).     Do Indian cos. think of becoming too big in too short a time and in the process falter so badly, that they fail to come up and fight it out..

    i am surprised, even after so many cases listed here, there is hardly any change in their behavior. My advice is that they better handle some local region, mature their processes, supply chain and then think of going big…

    There are ample Indians to support such initiatives, provided they don’t feel cheated..
